McMurray is the busy heart of northwestern Peters Township, centered on the junction of U.S. Route 19 (Washington Road) and McMurray Road, known locally as Donaldson's Crossroads. Named for local farmers including Levi McMurray, it has grown into a community of about 4,700 residents with shopping and restaurants around the crossroads and quiet neighborhoods beyond.
McMurray's neighborhoods range from older homes from its farm-town days to the many single-family houses built as Peters Township grew after 1950. Homes near Route 19 see more road dust and traffic, and family homes on the side streets often have open kitchens and finished basements.
