Ohio Township is a quiet, fast-growing township about 9 miles northwest of Pittsburgh, named for the Ohio River and formed in 1803. It has no downtown, just a few shops in the Mt. Nebo area and the newer retail near the Camp Horne Road interchange on I-279. Its population jumped from about 4,800 in 2010 to more than 7,100 in 2020 as new neighborhoods filled in.
With more than 80 percent of homes owner-occupied and many built in the last decade or two, Ohio Township has a lot of larger, newer houses with open kitchens, bonus rooms and finished lower levels, alongside older homes near Lowrie's Run and Mt. Nebo. Newer homes show crumbs and fingerprints first in open kitchens and family rooms, while older homes need extra time on trim and stairs.
